[song] Q-TEE
[artist] Ichikawa Ai
[language] Japanese
[rating] A+
[time] 4:16
[commentary] This is one of my favorite songs, and the first ending theme to the anime Platonic Chain. I think the best way to describe it is a cross between R&B and light rap - and really, the rap doesn't take away from the song at all.

[song] Karma Slave
[artist] Splashdown
[language] English
[rating] A-
[time] 3:26
[commentary] This one's a song off the Titan AE soundtrack; it's fast-paced, and the background music has a definite Indian feel to it.

[song] Princess wa Akiramenai
[artist] FLIP FLAP
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 3:34
[commentary] One of the cutest things I have EVER heard. XD I can't get this song out of my head - it's the opening theme to the equally adorable anime Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime, and if you enjoy sugar-induced songs, this one's for you.

[song] Elephant Love Melody
[artist] Ewan McGreggor and Nicole Kidman
[language] English
[rating] A
[time] 4:13
[commentary] From the Moulin Rouge movie, this is a fun song comprised of bits of a whole slew of other songs, all sung by either Ewan McGreggor (♥ ♥) or Nicole Kidman or both. It's a great listen, IMO.

[song] Catalyst (acoustic version)
[artist] Anna Nalick
[language] English
[rating] A-
[time] 3:29
[commentary] I personally think this song is lovely. It's entirely Anna Nalick singing, with only a guitar of some sort in the background. The song itself is somewhat on the slower side, but highly recommended.

[song] Girl Next Door
[artist] Saving Jane
[language] English
[rating] B
[time] 3:19
[commentary] This song has been playing on the radio a lot lately. It has a catchy beat, although the lyrics are hardly anything spectacular. Despite that, it kinda grows on you after a while.

[song] Te wo Tsunaide
[artist] Younha
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 3:57
[commentary] Only recently did I discover that I really like Younha, and this is one of my favorites. It's upbeat, with a driving rhythm and strong vocals.

[song] I Do
[artist] Yoko Kanno & Ilaria Graziano (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex)
[language] Italian? Russian? I'm really not sure.
[rating] A+
[time] 4:51
[commentary] Positively gorgeous. Slow, melodic, with the sort of haunting background music you'd expect from Yoko Kanno. Ilaria Graziano has a beautiful voice - if you only download one song this update, make it this one.

OTHER;

[anime] Muteki Kanban Musume, episode 01
[commentary] This is one of the series I've been following this season, and it's definitely worth the watch, in my opinion. It's primarily a comedy that centers around Onimaru Miki, a poster girl at her mother's ramen shop. Miki loves to fight, her main rival being the girl who works in the bakery across the street. The series is great for a laugh, and I recommend it. If you liked Yakitate! Japan, you'll be almost guaranteed to like this one.

[song] Everyday is a Holiday
[artist] Esthero
[language] English
[rating] A+
[time] 4:06
[commentary] My favorite song this update, it's easy-breezy and kinda reminds me of the songs they'd play for the opening of TV shows - against a backdrop of the lead character strolling down the streets of New York. The vocals are beautiful, and it's just a really nice song.

[song] Sunday
[artist] Sia
[language] English
[rating] A-
[time] 4:17
[commentary] This one's interesting - it actually has a really simple feel to it, and kinda strange lyrics, but I can't help liking it. The singer sounds like she's a bit out of it, but it works really well. XD

[song] A-I-TSU
[artist] dicot (Super GALS! Kotobuki Ran)
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 3:24
[commentary] Here's the happy hyper song of the update. It's sorta-rock, cute, and really does sound like a group of high school girls singing in not-quite-so-perfect harmony.

[song] Santa Monica
[artist] Theory of a Dead Man (Indigo Prophecy)
[language] English
[rating] A-
[time] 4:04
[commentary] A mellow song, and my favorite off the soundtrack of the game Indigo Prophecy. I guess the best description would be that it sounds like a less intense Nickelback.

[song] Koibumi
[artist] Hayashibara Megumi (Asagiri no Miko)
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 4:54
[commentary] This sounds an awful lot like jazz, intermingled with pop. Sounds weird, huh? Nevertheless, it's catchy and has bits that are almost, but not quite, rap.

This update is dedicated to my friend and fellow Digimon dork, anyhow. So, digging through my CDs, I've pulled out a collection of old school Digimon Adventure songs - happy, crazy and just plain fun. And since they all have cheesy-weird lyrics, I'll refrain from posting them. XDD;

[DIGIMON ADVENTURE 01]

[song] Butter-fly
[artist] Wada Kouji
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 4:20
[commentary] No Digimon series is complete without a song by Wada Kouji, and this was the original opening for the first season. Fast paced and dance-worthy, it's loaded with Engrish, but you can't help but find yourself singing along anyway.

[song] Version Up!
[artist] Tenjin Umi (Koushirou)
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 4:25
[commentary] This has always been one of my favorites of the Digimon songs. It's Izumi Koushirou's image song, and has a really nice beat along with an almost techno feel. Tenjin Umi just sounds awesome, and all in all it's well worth a listen.

[song] Walk on the Edge
[artist] Kazama Yuuto (Yamato)
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 3:23
[commentary] This is more laid-back, which makes sense - it's Ishida Yamato's image song. It sounds sorta like something you might hear in a night club. While the vocals sound a little strained at times, it's still a fun song.

[song] Bokura no War Game
[artist] AiM
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 3:18
[commentary] This is the theme to the... second of the movies, I believe? Anyway, it's upbeat, and just what you'd expect of an Ai Maeda song. I love her vocals, and this is definately one of my favorites.

[song] Keep On ~ parapara max version
[artist] AiM
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 1:55
[commentary] I figured I'd post this one up, since parapara max songs tend to be hard to find. It's basically a remix of the original song, set at a rather face-paced techno dance speed. More often than not, these parapara remixes sound really good, and can be an improvement on the original song. But since I can't for the life of me remember what the original song sounds like, I'll just have to say that it's good anyway. XD

[DIGIMON ADVENTURE 02]

[song] Ai no Kishi
[artist] Toochika Kouichi (Hawkmon)
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 3:08
[commentary] With a title like "knight of love," this song is about as cheesy as you'd expect, but still really catchy. I positively love Toochika Kouichi's voice. I think the best way to describe it would be, if Disney made a movie with bikers that suddenly broke into song on the highway, this would be the sort of thing you'd hear. XDD

[song] Sun Goes Down
[artist] AiM
[language] Japanese
[rating] B
[time] 4:55
[commentary] One of AiM's calmer songs, with soothing vocals and what's most likely a strings section in the background.

[DIGIMON FRONTIER]

[song] FIRE!!
[artist] Wada Kouji
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 4:12
[commentary] No Digimon series is complete without a song by Wada Kouji, and this is one of my favorites. Fast paced and not-quite-rock, it's a feel good song loaded with Engrish.

This is a special update, featuring the soundtrack to the game Shadow of the Colossus. The game itself was made by the same people who made ICO, a favorite of mine, which is one of the lesser known PS2 games. Anyway, Shadow of the Colossus came out only recently, and though I have yet to get my hands on the game itself, the soundtrack (which I managed to download) is just beautiful. So I decided to share it. One site describes the songs as "a massive open space filled completely with the sound of a magestic orchestra." Needless to say, I highly recommend downloading it.

[Wander and the Colossus ~ Roar of the Earth ~ Original Soundtrack]

[song] Jiri
[artist] Paku Romi (Shaman King)
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 3:41
[lyrics] nido to inoru koto mo nai/kogi ni ochiru koto mo nai/tada naranu na no seirei ga/tamashii wo michibiku darou/sude ni kono toki hokori ha iranai
[commentary] Paku Romi's one of my favorite seiyuu, so I have to say I love her voice. The song itself is fast-paced, with heavy percussion in the background, and an interlude with electric guitar. It's an okay song, although I don't quite like it as much as some of her others.

[song] Harmonia ~ karaoke version
[artist] RHYTHEM (Naruto)
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 4:14
[lyrics] N/A
[commentary] This was a request from someone who stumbled on shuffle or boogie. It's the karaoke version of the song Harmonia, which I kinda liked. It's slower and quieter than pretty much all the other Naruto OP/ED songs, but it's pretty, and now you can sing along!

[song] Good Luck
[artist] Basement Jaxx feat. Lisa Kekaula (Appleseed)
[language] English
[rating] A+
[time] 4:38
[lyrics] Good luck good luck/good luck in your new bed/enjoy your nightmares honey/when you’re resting your head
[commentary] I positively love this song, and have been listening to it rather frequently recently. It has strong percussion throughout, and unique but strong vocals. Not to mention the lyrics are awesome, too. Highly recommended.

[song] Fate
[artist] Trans-Siberian Orchestra
[language] English
[rating] A+
[time] 1:14
[lyrics] As she drifts through our lives/tossing coins into the air/watch them twist/watch them fall/turning hope into despair
[commentary] Another song I love and have been listening to a lot lately. This has a hard rock feel to it and the lyrics, again, are awesome. Another highly recommended song.

[song] Plosive Attack
[artist] Yoko Shimomura (Parasite Eve)
[language] N/A
[rating] A
[time] 2:19
[lyrics] N/A
[commentary] The main battle theme to the game Parasite Eve, this is one of my favorite songs from the OST. It sounds much as if the show Stomp! joined forces with a small orchestra. Fast-paced and somewhat dark, it's a great song, even if it tends to repeat the same 'chorus' about three times.

[song] The Dreamers
[artist] Yuki Kajiura (Tsubasa ~ Reservoir Chronicle)
[language] N/A
[rating] A-
[time] 2:18
[lyrics] N/A
[commentary] Yuki Kajiura. 'nuff said. ♥ Anyway, this has a caribbean feel to it. Or, rather, more like a caribbean feel mixed with traditional folk music. It's pretty. And have I mentioned it's Yuki Kajiura yet?

I really need to get back to a regular update schedule. Anyway, this is a massive update to make up for the two month lull. And no commentary on the songs, since I'm terrible at commentary anyway. So instead, I'm replacing that portion with a lyrics portion, where I'll post a snippet of the lyrics, since usually that's a good reason I'll consider listening to a song XDD

[song] Get Gone
[artist] Fiona Apple
[language] English
[rating] A
[time] 4:10
[lyrics] You got your game, made your shot, and you got away/with a lot, but I’m not turned-on/So put away that meat you’re selling/Cuz I do know what’s good for me/and I’ve done what I could for you

[song] Did You Tell Him?
[artist] Eleanor McEvoy
[language] English
[rating] A-
[time] 4:23
[lyrics] Or did you tell him that I've died/in every way that matters?/and did you tell him how I cry/with every day that passes?

[song] Soon Love Soon
[artist] Vienna Teng
[language] English
[rating] A-
[time] 4:23
[lyrics] We will find illumination in unnatural light/you will travel a thousand miles without leaving my sight

*cough* about two months later..

[song] Dancing with the Domz
[artist] Christophe Heral
[language] N/A
[rating] A
[time] 4:36
[commentary] This is a song from the game Beyond Good & Evil, which is absolutely awesome, if you haven't played it. It's a battle theme that plays early on, and it's just really hard to describe. But it's well worth the download. Fast-paced, with an alternating choir and almost-grunge feel. One of my favorite songs from the game.

[song] memory
[artist] M.H.
[language] Japanese
[rating] A+
[time] 3:54
[commentary] Slow and beautiful, this is definately my favorite song associated with the game Fate/staynight. It's from the newly released Wish image album, and has just lovely vocals.

[song] It's only the fairytale
[artist] Miyamura Yuuko
[language] Japanese [Engrish]
[rating] A-
[time] 2:23
[commentary] Mmm, Engrish. I've had this song on repeat a lot lately. It's the pretty song that Alyssa sings in the anime Mai-HiMe, and it has a music box quality to the vocals, while the actual music feels a lot like a waltz.

[song] Ai subeki Kimi ni
[artist] can/goo
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 3:55
[commentary] What can I say? I like can/goo's stuff. Upbeat with a happy feel and the kind of vocals you'd expect from can/goo. ^^;

[song] Runnin' Hiding
[artist] Meja
[language] English
[rating] A
[time] 4:29
[commentary] Another song I've had on repeat a lot recently. The chorus is really catchy, and the lyrics are interesting. It's got a good beat, but I can't really think of anything to compare it to off the top of my head.

[song] Uso | alternate link
[artist] can/goo
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 2:52
[commentary] One of can/goo's slower songs, off their Kokoro no Uta album. It's a duet between the lead singer and a piano, and it's really pretty.

[song] Boku ni Sasageru Ballade | alternate link
[artist] FLOW
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 4:46
[commentary] Definately a Caribbean feel. It almost makes me think of an upbeat DragonAsh, and this sort of song doesn't seem like something you'd expect from FLOW (who did GO!!, the fourth opening to Naruto). I actually like this song better than most of their other ones, and think it's worth the download.

[song] Otherworld ~ black mages version | alternate link
[artist] Nobuo Uematsu
[language] Engrish
[rating] A-
[time] 3:14
[commentary] Off the second Black Mages CD, this is a rock arrangement of Otherworld, the theme that plays when you battle Braska's Final Aeon in FFX. I highly prefer this version to the original, mainly since you can actually understand the lyrics. It has a female vocalist, and it's a good song with a strongly driven beat.

[song] Turkish Song of the Damned | alternate link
[artist] The Pogues
[language] English
[rating] A
[time] 3:27
[commentary] And this is one of the songs that I've been putting on repeat lately. I seriously can't describe it, but it's definately something you could dance to, and has an array of unusual instruments. I highly recommend downloading it.

Alright, since I'm bogged down with the last two weeks of the semester and all the essays, projects and finals that go along with that, I'll post my holiday update now. Also, since evidently there was a lot of trouble getting the RURUTIA songs from the last update, I've also refreshed the links for those.

[song] Digimon Christmas Melody | alternate link
[artist] Digimon Tamers cast
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 5:59
[commentary] This song is too cute, I swear. It's off one of the Digimon Christmas Illusion CDs, and consists of the cast of main digimon singing a variety of Christmas songs, including Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, Silent Night (really pretty) and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause. Hearing I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas in Engrish is so worth it, because the voice is so damn cute. You know you can't resist the cuteness.

[song] Minna no Christmas | alternate link
[artist] Wada Kouji
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 5:39
[commentary] This is from Digimon Adventure 02 (there are so many cute digimon Christmas songs!). It's a softer song, despite the steady drumbeat in the background. It's more of a curl up by the fire song, and Wada Kouji has a great voice. The chorus singers make me cringe a little, but Wada Kouji's vocals make up for it.

[song] Final Fantasy ~ Square Sounds (Christmas version) | alternate link
[artist] Square Sounds
[language] N/A
[rating] A-
[time] 3:10
[commentary] Instrumental, and a pretty one at that. I don't think I ever really listened to this whole song before, but I have to admit I kinda like it. It's very holidayish, although I'm not entirely sure what theme they're supposed to be playing off of. It has bells. Lots of bells.

[song] A Gift | alternate link
[artist] Kokia
[language] Japanese
[rating] A+
[time] 4:45
[commentary] Soft and beautiful, as is expected from Kokia's songs. This song has her lovely vocals accompanied by piano and strings. Not explicitly a holiday song, but it's beautiful enough that it doesn't really matter :P

[artist] RURUTIA

[time] 4:29
[commentary] RURUTIA is love, and her songs are incredibly hard to find. This is one of my favorites. It has beautiful vocals and a calm feel.

[song] gatsu sen ichiya | alternate link
[artist] RURUTIA
[language] Japanese
[rating] A+
[time] 5:33
[commentary] Another of my favorite RURUTIA songs. I'm not entirely sure I can describe it, but it is gorgeous. It has a somewhat dark melody, and RURUTIA's beautiful soft vocals. If you only download one song this update, make this be it.

[song] Shazai Joukyou | alternate link
[artist] Angela
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 3:53
[commentary] One of my favorite songs off their second album IO. It has somewhat of a grungy rock feel to it, and Atsuko's standard vocals. It's slightly reminiscent of some of Ali Project's more recent songs, I think.

[song] Harmonia | alternate link
[artist] RYTHEM
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 4:16
[commentary] So, I was looking through my CDs and I found the karaoke version of this song. I like the song, and I like the karaoke version, so I figured I might as well post them both up. This was the second ED theme to Naruto, and it's cute. It's kinda slow, with a duet between the two female singers that can be really pretty at times. RYTHEM also sings the opening theme to Yakitate!! Japan.

[song] Harmonia ~ karaoke version | alternate link
[artist] RYTHEM
[language] N/A
[rating] A-
[time] 4:14
[commentary] Why the karaoke version is two seconds shorter than the vocal version, I have no idea. But here ya go.

Alright, so I'm going to attempt a Thanksgiving-related update, since turkey day is this Thursday. So, songs about thanks... getting drunk and food. Let's see what I can do. ^^

[song] Arigatou | alternate link
[artist] Tange Sakura
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 5:50
[commentary] One of the songs on the OST for the 2nd Card Captor Sakura movie. It's cute and soothing, and fits the series.

[song] Okashi no Uta | alternate link
[artist] Hisakawa Aya & Touma Yumi
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 3:31
[commentary] How did I wind up with two CCS songs on a Thanksgiving update? Anyway, this is a crazy song that's entirely about sweets, and how much Kero and Suppi like them. Halfway through, Suppi (Touma Yumi) goes nuts. It's hilarious, cute, and standard CCS fare.

[song] chicken bone | alternate link
[artist] Yoko Kanno
[language] Engrish
[rating] A+
[time] 4:56
[commentary] It's Bebop. How can you not like Bebop music? This is the song that plays in the episode where Ed and Ein go out to find food, and whacky hijinks ensue. It's an amusing song, with hilarious Engrish lyrics about how to eat a chicken bone.

[song] Mods de Chocobo | alternate link
[artist] Nobuo Uematsu
[language] N/A (instrumental)
[rating] A
[time] 2:26
[commentary] A chocobo is about as close to a turkey as I'm going to get. Anyway, this is the theme that plays when you're riding a chocobo in the game Final Fantasy VIII. It's probably my favorite of the final fantasy chocobo songs. Rock-ish with a steady beat and something that's almost, but not quite, a synthesizer.

[song] Agumon Ondo | alternate link
[artist] Sakamoto Chika
[language] Japanese
[rating] A+
[time] 3:43
[commentary] And here's the getting drunk song. It's cute, it's Sakamoto Chika singing in a voice that must have hurt her throat horribly, and it's just incredibly amusing. I'd highly recommend downloading it for a lighthearted song that'll have you clapping along. It also has a caribbean feel, and has various other members of the Digimon Adventure cast shouting throughout. The dialogue partway through is insanely cute, where Agumon tries to get everyone else to give him food, and winds up inviting them to sing with him when they all refuse.

Okay, I'm changing the 'genre' thing to a rating, since I'm terrible with figuring out genres. Yousendit seems not to be working that well for me, so I'm trying out other sites with similar services. I'll reupload any songs that need to reuploaded. (since simple-share only allows for 10 dls before a link expires) ^^;

[song] Forget [reuploaded]
[artist] Cherry Filter
[language] Korean
[rating] A+
[time] 3:43
[commentary] Cherry Filter has become a real favorite of mine. They're a Korean rock band, and a lot of their songs have an Alanis Morissette feel to them. I love their stuff, and this is no exception. Upbeat, with a softer rock feel and strong vocals.

[song] Tank! (parapara max version) [reuploaded]
[artist] Yoko Ishida
[language] Japanese
[rating] B+
[time] 1:55
[commentary] The Parapara MAX CDs take anime songs and remix them, with Yoko Ishida doing all the singing. This is one of the ones she doesn't sing on, and it's a remix of the Cowboy Bebop opening theme. It's a pretty good remix. Not necessarily one of my favorite parapara remixes, but it's good. Lots of techno.

[song] Midnight Party
[artist] Kusao Takeshi, Nakamura Daiki, Sasaki Nozomu, Takemura Hiroshi, Yanada Kiyoyuki, Watanabe Kumiko & Kusakabe Kaori
[language] Japanese
[rating] A-
[time] 3:38
[commentary] This is a song from Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, known stateside as Ronin Warriors. I have no clue how long I've had it, but it's such a cute and amusing song. The entire cast of heroes (which is like.. 7 people) sings what seems to be a seriously drug-induced song, with random lines of dialogue interspersed throughout. It's got an almost country feel to it, but it makes me smile.

[song] Pretty Voice [reuploaded]
[artist] Otsuka Ai
[language] Japanese
[rating] A
[time] 3:33
[commentary] And it's the usual hyper song of the update! Are those maracas and an electric guitar in the background? o_O; I seriously can't describe this song, but parts of it make me think of those rolling green heads from Spirited Away.

music: Trainwreck (Sarah Mclachlan)
posted by: ataraxia in shuffleorboogie

So I was going to do a Halloween update last week, but I never quite got around to it. So here's a longer-than-usual update as an apology for skipping last week ^^;

[song] Messiah
[artist] Nanase Hikaru (?)
[genre] anime (Angel Sanctuary)
[time] 4:18
[commentary] The opening theme to the Angel Sanctuary OAV (the manga's so much better) that didn't actually appear at the beginning of the anime.... go figure. Or maybe it was just my DVD. It's really pretty and has an angelic-sounding chorus. The lyrics are entirely in Engrish and Latin, and I definately recommend it.

[song] Aura ~ evil version
[artist] Yuki Kajiura
[genre] anime (.hack//sign)
[time] 2:11
[commentary] I actually prefer this version to the original version of the song. It's insanely creepy, and the vocals as well as the background melody are pretty dark.

[song] In the Land of Twilight, Under the Moon
[artist] Yuki Kajiura
[genre] anime (.hack//sign)
[time] 3:45
[commentary] I love Yuki Kajiura's music, and this is no exception. This is one of my favorite .hack songs. It has a fast drumbeat in the background that doesn't seem like it should fit well with the flowing vocals, but it does. Completely in Engrish, but it's understandable Engrish.

[song] My Pace Daiou
[artist] manzo
[genre] anime (Genshiken)
[time] 3:52
[commentary] The current song I have stuck on repeat. It's upbeat, and I really like the singer. This is the actual opening to the new anime Genshiken (which doesn't actually appear in the first episode..) and I demand you DOWNLOAD IT NOW!

[song] Realize
[artist] Lucifer
[genre] jrock
[time] 3:55
[commentary] I love the chorus on this song. Fast paced, but not insanely hard-rockish like some other jrock.

[song] Timing
[artist] Black Biscuits feat. Vivian Hsu
[genre] jpop
[time] 4:08
[commentary] It's dance-able with a slight jazz feel. This was a song I heard on an online Japanese radio station, and absolutely loved it. Vivian Hsu has a beautiful voice.

-- ENGLISH --

[song] Trainwreck
[artist] Sarah Mclachlan
[genre] folk? maybe? who knows >_>;
[time] 4:36
[commentary] It's Sarah Mclachlan. It's pretty. I'm horrible at descriptions. XD;

[song] Freedom '90
[artist] George Michael
[genre] pop
[time] 6:30
[commentary] OMG, old school. XD The video for this song is really interesting, and I used to watch VH1 just in the hopes that the song would come on. It took me a while to actually find it, but I really like it. It's got a good beat and nice lyrics.

[song] Sound the Bugle
[artist] Bryan Adams
[genre] no clue.. ^^;;
[time] 3:54
[commentary] From the Disney movie Spirit.... but don't let that fool you. It's a slow, sad song that I absolutely love. Most of it is just Bryan Adams singing in a soft voice with piano in the background. Highly recommended.

music: Charlotte no Okurimono (Tokyo Babylon)
posted by: ataraxia in shuffleorboogie

So I figured this update that I'd post some of the rarer songs I've managed to get my hands on.. or just songs I don't see around much.

[song] Charlotte no Okurimono
[artist] Chara
[genre] anime (Tokyo Babylon)
[time] 4:30
[commentary] I gather this is supposed to be one of Hokuto's songs, from the second Tokyo Babylon soundtrack. Anyway, it's pretty, and Chara's singing is kinda breathy. I think it has a sort of 80s feel to it, like most of the Tokyo Babylon music, but it's a nice song nonetheless.

[song] Vision
[artist] Hideaki Matsuoka
[genre] anime (Tokyo Babylon)
[time] 5:30
[commentary] Another Tokyo Babylon song, and this one has a definate 80s feel. It's the song from the incredibly rare/weird Tokyo Babylon AMV that makes very little sense. The song's kinda catchy, and took me an insanely long time to find. ^^;

[song] Kokoro no Hadaka
[artist] Ueda Yuji
[genre] anime (Rurouni Kenshin)
[time] 4:02
[commentary] It's Ueda Yuji, and thus it's good. XD He's my favorite seiyuu, so maybe I'm a little biased. Anyway, this is Sanosuke's song where Ueda-sama gets to try his hand at rapping every other verse. Fast-paced and incredibly amusing, and did I mention that Ueda Yuji sings it? Highly recommended.

[song] Perfect Lady
[artist] Do as Infinity
[genre] seems pretty close to jrock to me..
[time] 3:39
[commentary] I went on a DaI kick a while back, so I still have a whole ton of their songs. This one is one of my favorites. Fast, with a definate rock feel - piano, drums, and a really overbearing electric guitar. XD not to mention that there's a part in there that always sounds like a song from the pokemon games. Don't ask me what, 'cause you'll know.

music: ending? (Melty Blood)
posted by: ataraxia in shuffleorboogie

This week is fun, because I'm posting up some songs from Melty Blood, which is a fighting game based off Tsukihime. It's fun, insanely addictive, and can be kinda hard at times, especially the newer version of Re.Act. But yes.. it has great music, which I have finally managed to get ahold of. And since I recently found a whole stash of Every Little Thing songs, I'll post a couple of those, too. ^^

[song] ending?
[artist] RAITO
[genre] game (Melty Blood)
[time] 8:08
[commentary] Yes, that's actually the title. :P This is something of an alternate ending theme, as opposed to the real end theme of the game, Memories of Once. Basically, this plays when you defeat the game's arcade mode with an evil character. I prefer this song to the actual ending theme. It's got a dark feel to it, with piano and mumbled lyrics in a jazz style.

[song] Memories of Once
[artist] RAITO
[genre] game (Melty Blood)
[time] 5:46
[commentary] Well, since I'm posting the alternate ending, I figure I may as well post the actual ending too. This plays anytime you beat the game normally. It's cute, with a high-pitched singer whose voice gets synthesized every now and then. The whole song is essentially singing, a guitar, bongos, and a harmonica near the end. I like it, but not as much as the alternate ending. And I have no idea why there's a long pause after the song finishes.. that's just how it was when I dled it. >_>;

[song] The end of 1000 years
[artist] RAITO
[genre] game (Melty Blood)
[time] 3:07
[commenatary] It sounds like a war between a piano and an electric guitar. XD I can't remember which stage this plays in, but it's a good song, alternating between slow melody and fast rocking beat, depending on which instrument is currently dominant.

[song] Fundamtental Love
[artist] Every Little Thing
[genre] jpop
[time] 4:17
[commentary] One of their faster songs, and one I really like. Great beat, somewhat high-pitched vocals, and the occasional electric guitar in the background. Highly recommended. ^^

[song] Get into a Groove
[artist] Every Little Thing
[genre] jpop
[time] 4:32
[commentary] Another fast-paced song, and the vocals are somewhat mellow, mixing with the instruments. Incredibly catchy chorus, too.

music: GRAIN (MONSTER)
posted by: ataraxia in shuffleorboogie

[song] DANZEN
[artist] Gojo Mayumi
[genre] anime
[time] 3:34
[commentary] The overly-hyper opening of Pretty Cure.. which repeats the title constantly in Engrish. Amusing, cute, and definately gets stuck in your head.

[song] Rise
[artist] Origa
[genre] anime
[time] 5:30
[commentary] I first heard this song on a music video, and I fell in love with it. Of course, I had no idea what it was called, what it was from, etc. A few months later, and I found it. Awesome, awesome song from the Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, composed by Yoko Kanno. It has a mix of English and Russian lyrics, a strong beat, and I tend to leave it on repeat a lot.

[song] GRAIN
[artist] ???
[genre] anime
[time] 1:26
[commentary] This is the opening theme to the anime MONSTER, and I fell in love with the song (and the anime) as soon as I started watching. I kinda wish there was a longer version... anyway, the song is a bit haunting, with quiet chanting and a slight industrial feel. It's a really great song, pretty much all instrumental, but absolutely beautiful.

[song] Mermaid
[artist] Alisa Mizuki
genre jpop
[time] 3:41
[commentary] I like Alisa Mizuki - she has a really nice voice. This is one of her slower, calmer songs, and it reminds me of another song that I can't quite remember. There's a steady beat in the background and soft vocals. It's a pretty song. ^^

music: Losing Myself (day after tomorrow)
posted by: ataraxia in shuffleorboogie

I have recently discovered the sheer wonderfulness of the group "day after tommorrow" (which have nothing to do with the movie of the same name, which is awesome, btw...). They did the opening song to the game Tales of Symphonia, and they're really worth the listen, IMO. Soo~ this update I'm posting several of their songs. ^^ I'm also feeling kinda generous, so I'm going to post a couple of the songs from the Tsukihime typing game OST... which are really, really strange. XD Enjoy!

[song] Losing Myself
[artist] day after tomorrow
[genre] Jpop
[time] 4:37
[commentary] Off their Elements album, this is upbeat with a catchy chorus (losing myself, show me heaven..) I love the beat - it's definately something you could dance to.

[song Grow
[artist] day after tomorrow
[genre] Jpop
[time] 5:17
[commentary] Another from their Elements album.. Slower than Losing Myself, with beautiful calm vocals. Sorta reminds me of some of the stuff Maaya Sakamoto does, actually.

[song] Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto
[artist] day after tomorrow
[genre] Jpop/game
[time] 4:23
[commentary] From their Lost Angel single, this is the opening theme to Tales of Symphonia - I'm fairly certain there's an electric guitar in the background at times. Another upbeat song, and I love the vocals.

[song] The Curry Song
[artist] MORRIGAN & S.Kazuna
[genre] game
[time] 1:11
[commentary] So there's this Tsukihime typing game, and it has some weird interesting music. This would be one of the tracks from the OST of the game. It's cute, and is entirely about how Ciel loves curry. And it has bells in the background. XD

[song] Dancing in the Moon
[artist] MORRIGAN
[genre] game
[time] 1:39
[commentary] The main theme to the Tsukihime typing game. At least, it's the music that plays during the opening movie. Odd chanting and a slight techno beat. Like I said, the game has weird music. ^^;
